Our People
Ascendant differentiates itself in the market because
it only employs senior level consultants that have at
least five years of experience working in the PR industry.
This approach means that our clients get input from senior
and experienced consultants on a daily basis, not just
at quarterly meetings and then leaving junior staff to
run the accounts as we have all seen at many larger PR
consultancies. By offering our clients this level of service,
and avoiding the heavily hierarchical and quick staff
churn approach of bigger more established players, we
give a more bespoke and understanding approach to our
clients’ communications needs and Program delivery;
something our clients appreciate.
Our approach to PR comes from our own experience working
both sides of the fence as client PR managers and consultants
agency side. Clients need support beyond the tactical delivery,
and they need a PR consultancy that understands their own
business drivers and priorities and that can deliver results
that support these.
Ascendant was founded in 2003 by James Cooper. With
over nine years experience working in public relations,
having been both a client and consultant within the industry,
James saw the issues of poor understanding that many agencies
have of their clients businesses and why they actually needed
PR services. From his experience as PR Director for two
US technology companies James has sought to bring this understanding
to Ascendant’s approach to its clients and their needs.
